Known as a ‘General Traveling Agent’ Mrs. Albee was hired to take over the daily operations of the perfume sales. She developed a business plan that was not only incredibly successful, but also became one of the identifiers of the company. She recruited women to serve as ‘depot agents’ selling the perfumes and other products door to door in their own neighborhoods. By 1903 the California Perfume Company had a network of over 10,000 agents. Mrs. Albee was so important in the early years of the company that in Mr. McConnell’s 1903 publication, The History of the California Perfume Company, he referred to her as “Mother of the California Perfume Company.”
Today, Avon Representatives receive a beautiful ceramic statue of Mrs. P.F.E. Albee once they reach President's Club which can be attained each year and each year they receive a different Mrs. Albee figurine. The one pictured above is from 2009 and the other two listed below are from 2008 (left) and 2010 (right).

ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed working for Avon. I started September 17, 2011, and I it has been by far the most flexible work schedule that I have ever had. I am attending college right now, and I have to do a project and I have chosen to do Avon, and I have learned so much about the Avon company so far. I've really enjoyed seeing how Avon came about and how the company has changed over the years.
