Slinky's Binky

Last year, in September, 2011, I got a new puppy who I named Slinky.  When I got Slinky she was 7 weeks old and weighed one pound.  She was the cutest thing I had seen in a long time :-)

Of course, I ran out and bought her some toys right away, like the donut in the picture above, because every puppy-raising book I've read says that puppies should have plenty of toys to chew and play with.  I bought puppy toys every chance I got.  In addition to the donut, I bought this seal..

and this butterfly...

Slinky loved all of her toys but the butterfly became her favorite and one that she would not go to bed without so I nicknamed it her "binky".  She treats her binky more delicately than the other toys and when we play she never brings me her "binky" butterfly for me to throw.

Slinky is 8 months old now and she has been an awesome addition to our lives.  This morning as I was getting ready for work she started whining at the door.  I looked around and didn't see her binky and I knew exactly what she wanted.  When I opened the front door, I didn't see her binky anywhere on the front deck.  I searched all over the house and, finally, in the screened in porch we found it!  Slinky went right to it, gently picked it up and went back into the house :)

Slinky is smart, beautiful and has a great personality and we think it's so very cute how she handles her binky butterfly.  I need to find one or two more in case something happens to this one.
